Dive into dinosaurs with this Mesozoic Era Encyclopedia Unit Study! This unit is to be used with the books: My Encyclopedia of Very Important Dinosaurs and Dino Dana: Dino Field Guide, Volume 1. You will find links to the books below.

These activities were designed to help you teach your kiddos to use an encyclopedia. They will have a blast working independently or with others to search the beautifully colored encyclopedia for answers to questions. They will even get a chance to use the Table of Contents and Index!

Three worksheet packets have been separated into the different periods of the Mesozoic Era: Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. Another encompasses all three time periods in one. You will also find an encyclopedia scavenger hunt designed to lead your kids to fun, interesting information on different dinos. And a BONUS scavenger hunt that utilizes the Dino Dana: Dino Field Guide for extra fun!

Kiddos will also get a chance to search for their favorite dinos and list them!

Separating each vibrantly colored packet into specific time periods limits the number of pages within the book to search. Doing this also allows your kiddos to tackle the Mesozoic Era in little chunks so information is more easily retained and, of course, is more fun!

Each packet also contains a worksheet with page numbers for the younger kiddos who might need extra help and one without page numbers for those with more experience.
